Last week I hopped over to NYC on one of my famous in-and-out trips. Purpose? Creative meetings for a Fashion Week runway show, a fantastic collection of uber-creative talent, making the vision of the designer come to life. Designer? Lady Luxe Pamella Roland.
I was excited to be there and work with her again as well as Nigel Barker and the rest of the team. It was a treat to find on arrival that we would have cameras around all day as ABC was doing a “Behind-the-Scenes” look at Pamella’s Mercedes Benz Fashion Week show.
This season Pamella was inspired by the simultaneously dramatic and delicate state of the city of Venice, Italy from one of her recent worldly escapades. The collection for Fall 2010 is an infusion of dark decadent colors and luxe fabrics that speak to Venice’s grand palazzos, lavish festivals and shimmering canals.
“The inspiration does not come from a typical perspective of Venice but a deeper, more mysterious side of the city” she told us, which feed well my desire for a more intense runway look than the ones I had designed for her before. After all, the season is Fall, and the garments luxury, classic Pamella Roland style.
Fall trend in makeup, like clothing, typically is always a return to richer colour and more intense texture. We do away with the sheer and airy-ness of spring makeup. Some swap a tinted moisturizer for a full-coverage foundation, and a cream cheek colour for powder blush, while others may trade in their summer lip glace for full coverage lipstick matched perfectly with Lip Liner.
Fall 2010 trends for makeup are refined and balanced, although there is always an eye focus, the lips don’t play second fiddle and get full-coverage treatment. Tones are intense rich neutrals. I enjoyed very much designing a luxe look with an edge for this collection and I so wish I could share it with you now. Unfortuntely I am going to have to wait a little while longer.
The Pamella Roland Fall 2010 Show is Tuesday February 16th at 1pm.
